screenshot as Facebook tries to boost a post for a price

Maybe, a few of my redneck cronies fall for the gimmick.

For anywhere from a dollar, to $30 a day y'all can give me a boost ?

I ain't buyin' it.

End of rant.

PS  It would be nice if somebody could get those red bubbles, to quit moving around, too.

A Rant: Old Goats Either Love or Hate Facebook

A Few Days Offline Floods Mailboxes

This old boy hasn't been in the office for awhile because of some good doctors.

They gave me enough medicines to keep me in bed for a week.

Instead of running around twenty hours a day and sleeping the other four, I've gone in reverse.

It's just one of those lung things and I'll be fully recovered shortly.

Out of the house for a walk, is what I told the wife I'd be doing.

No camera shooting, just post a quick blog and homepage photo and I'm outta here.

What's Great About Facebook

There were a few messages from editors hinting it would be nice to have articles.

And, I got a great big Thank You from someone who reads my blogs.

She discovered the best hamburger in Okinawa and went there Mother's Day.

Hopefully, her kids or, hubby paid.

Rant: This is the Part of Facebook I Hate

It's important to check your mailbox over there and reply when someone talks to you, I think.

Another thing, is to look for new people who have started following your site.

Normally, I'm not so far behind on all my email accounts like I was today.

Twitter, Facebook, Stumble upon send you new followers all the time.

Before I follow them back, I check their profile.  No time today but, I didn't want to be mean.

Some gal named Lisa was in the pile. She's already friends with 10 of my friends.

If you can believe the Zuckerberganator thing.

I'm in a hurry so, I added her as a Friend.  Big mistake.

Within two minutes I got a reply:

"Thanks for the add...

Have you met anyone cool on here?

ugh I have to log out right now :<

wats ur numebr?  I'll send u smoe of my pictures."

Sent from mobile

Lisa, I really don't think I can use any of your photos.

I'm not that sort of photographer.

Sometimes you have to un-add friends on Facebook.

That's what I really hate about it.

Jumping Over Mt Katsuu: How We Gotterdun

She Really Didn't Jump That High

The pretty girl didn't have to jump over 400 meters in the air to compose this photo.

I took it while waiting for the Katsuyama Shikuwasa Flower Festival Festival to Kick off.

Most girls would look at you like you were crazy if you asked them to try this.

Say something like, "Nene, how about a picture of you jumping over that mountain?"

Well, she did seem to act like she was confronting a lunatic, at first.

But, thanks to the Zuckerberganator, the gal recognized RyukyuMike from Facebook.

So, she took a minute of her time to listen to my plan.

We borrowed two folding chairs from the set-up in front of the stage.

They were strategically placed so she just had to jump-up a tad while I shot the photos.

That's how we gotterdun.

RyukyuMike's Favorite Facebook Shares of the Week

Here are Five Facebook Shares from the 1st Week of March 2013

Not everybody gets along, as well as I do, with the Zuckerberganator.

For those poor souls, I'll post a few teasers here.

That way, if they don't have a Facebook account, they'll start thinking about getting one.

There are lots of things I share over there but, these five are special.

From Amy Chavez, who I must give credit for teaching me about plastic grass in my bento:

The Thinnest Latex Condom and Other World Records Held by Japan

Don Cartwright, I don't really know but, he posted this video that tickled me:

It's supposed to be about gun control, I'm guessing.

Mommy Cracked, changed her name to Read, Write, Mom but I like her old handle best

because she finds stuff like:

Splice Today, I read something over there every day but, not like this one:

Last but, not least, Chris Willson Photography added my mugshot to:

The Wild Bunch

The Redneck Goes High Tech on Pinterest

It Started with a Conversation About Resumes

A  friend suggested making a one page resume of articles I've had published and posting it online.

That sort of high tech stuff scares me.

My website and blogs get cluttered-up enough without me trying to add more fancy stuff.

So, I experimented over on Pinterest and created this Board.

It doesn't look too shabby, to me so, I went and shared it over on Facebook.

That way, I'd get an idea if folks liked the way it looked.

Somehow, that Zuckerberganator guy had all 21 of my pins from that Board, already.

So, this old country boy, went and deleted them one at a time.  Hah !

Facebook Gets on My Nerves Sometimes

They are probably more popular with youngsters and city folks than senior citizens.

It seems like, just about the time I start figuring out how it works, they change everything.

They better watch-out.  One of these days Pinterest may gobble them up !

Here's the Deal

Facebook and Pinterest dudes should start talking to us about these important things.

Suppose a bunch of people wanted to do high tech stuff like I just did.

They want online mini resumes the same as in the screenshot above.

Call them a Picturesume.

My friend Map It Okinawa coined that term.

The high tech stuff, I did all by myself.

Contact us.  Sometimes, we even accept unreasonable offers !

Recovering from the White Wagtail and a Birthday

14 Wildlife Photos

That Zuckerberganator guy doesn't know my real birthday for a couple of reasons.

Number one being, it's none of his business. And the other reason, I hate Facebook Birthday mail.

The birthday was a few days ago but, I told the Z Dude it's sometime in the summer.

That saved me from most of the Happy Birthday crowd and gave me time to go shoot some birds. Hah!

In a flooded field on the east side of Kin Village, Okinawa, Japan there was this White Wagtail.

Also known as Motacilla alba, they are a pretty common sight, around here.

This was all the entertainment I needed for my birthday.

The bird decided to take a bath.

On a hot day in January, that had to feel great.

The Wagtail was slinging water everywhere.

All of a sudden he stops and looks at me like, "How was that ?"

And I was saying stuff like, "C'mon, do some more !"

And there he went, doing some kinda ear-dive.

Bird:  How's that old man ?"

Me:  Come on baby let me see you Shake a Tail Feather.

And that's what happened.

The bird stopped dancing before I could sing half the song.  Dang, it!

I'm saying, to myself and the critter, "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon.

The Blues Brothers are more lively than you !"

The bird pooped, real loud.

And, gave me one last shake of his tail feathers.

If there's nothing else you need from me, mister.....

have a good, last-look at these tail feathers.

I'm outta here!

Later That Day and Evening

There were about six hundred photos, of various wild birds downloaded from the cameras.

The little hike with all the photography gear lasted longer than planned.

It had been an unusually hot day, for this time of year.

And, this old boy was feeling his age.

Friends and family held a party for me at a favorite watering hole.

It was nice; the birthday song, presents, and a cheesecake shaped like Dolly Parton's breast.

But, two beers were too many so, I drank most of them and went home.

I was pooped!

What everybody, with birthdays close to the Xmas and New Year's Holidays, should do is this:

Tell the Zuckerberganator guy and all his Facebook friends what I did.

Make yourself somewhere between 88-105 years old and have your birthday in the summer!
