Wildlife Photo: Coconut Crab from Sesoko Island Okinawa, Japan

Location: Sesoko Island Okinawa, Japan       Date and Time:  Aug 11, 2011  10:11PM

Equipment Used:  Pentax K5 with Pentax 18-250mm lens at a focal length of 250mm.  Camera Flash.

Camera Settings:  f/9  1/100  ISO 100

The Coconut Crab (Birgus latro) doesn't look anything at all like the Sea Turtle hatchlings I went to Sesoko Island looking for but, it was nice to meet him, anyway !

    The crab kind of looks like an alien from a sci-fi flick. I wonder where the movie makers get their ideas? huh

    They do have some great color. The problem is, they only come out at night where you have to use flash.
