Then and Now: An Okinawan Sweetheart (Photos)

Yup, I got her permission.  Nope, I ain't givin her name away.

Here is a photo of this gal, I met up in Bise Okinawa, Japan.

It was taken, probably, before colored film became popular and maybe, before it was even invented.

Let's just say this picture is from way back then.

And here's a photo of the little sweetheart now.

You know, a gentleman doesn't ask a lady her age.  So, I did.

But, I aint givin that away, either.

Let's just say somewhere around ahem, ahum, not any younger than me.

See the island in this photo?

That'd be IeShima.  It's the island I went to for the Easter Lily Festival.

The gal in the photos above modeled for an airline poster with that island in the background.

That was way back then.  She promised to go and strike the same pose for me at the same location for a Then and Now Series I'm putting together.  Wouldn't that be cool?

Wildlife Photo: Seahorse and What I Learned Today

This little guy was brought to me by a little girl at a beach party in Okinawa, Japan.

Don't worry.  I took 500th of a second to snap the photo and told her hurry and put him back in the water.  He's a fish even if people call him a horse.  He went right back into the ocean, just a few feet away.  I hope everything turned out alright for the guy.

Seahorses, and there are over 30 varieties of them, come from the Genus Hippocampus. They are members of the Family Sygnathidae, which also, includes Sea Dragons and Pipefish.

Probably, their worst natural enemy is people.  Remember all the comic books advertising ?

They start making whoopie early in the morning and might take 8 hours to finish.

The female puts eggs in a pouch the male has and he gets pregnant.

He could be pregnant a couple of weeks and have as many as 2,000 babies.

He might deliver all those babies in the morning, get another batch of eggs thrown in the basket and be like,  el prego, again by nightfall.  I don't make this stuff up !

Facebook Gave Me A Bad Hair Day Today (Photos)

Almost ripped all the grey hairs outa my head this morning because of Facebook.

A good friend of mine, I'll just call Betty Winter (for privacy reasons) posted this:

"~~Can I make a request? Is anyone willing to post this and leave it on your status for 1 hour? It is Special Education week, Autism and ADHD Awareness month, and this is in honor of all children who struggle every day, I know 99% of you wont Re-Post this.... I know the 1% that will....~~"

Well, I figured "I'll show her 99% of my friends will do that and leave it up all day."

But, Apple, Windows 7 or Vista wouldn't let me copy and paste this important information into the Status block on my Facebook. Grrrrrr

Everybody knows someone who has one of these special children.

But, the special events this week and month, probably, not a lot of people ever heard of them.

Finally, after typing the old fashioned way, I got the word out on my Facebook.

The bad hair will get better but, I think that Mark Zuckerberg dude should spend a little cash helping out, even if it's just spreading the word.

Oh, another thing, after he gets that Facebook thing fixed.....

....I wonder if he'd have any cash left to cover the hole I ripped in my t shirt !
