Special T-shirt Arrived Overnight

T-shirt, memorial, sailing sabani, race, Sir Peter Blake

Late Night Message

Saturday night, sometimes finds me in a local watering hole and, it was one of those nights.

DING: A message came through on the iPhone, saying my T-shirt was delivered.

It was placed in the mailbox at the office. It would wait until morning.

It's a good thing the crime rate is low in this part of the world. Nobody, swiped my shirt.

Last month, I traveled to Zamami-jima for my fifth consecutive year to photograph this event.

The Maririn Cup, is a local race in the Kerama Islands.

The big event, is the Sir Peter Blake Memorial Cup Race, from Zamami to Okinawa Island.

A passing typhoon made this the longest of the sailing sabani races, I've ever witnessed.

Only three boats finished, within the six hour time limit. The rest struggled to get home.

Normally, there's a big celebration at the finish, with bands and free beer.

We dragged our exhausted, sunburned bodies to the closing ceremony and got a beer.

Suddenly, rain busted out and closed out the closing ceremonies. After, only one free beer !

Everybody ran for shelter and the bands, dancers and beer kegs, went home.

We were told, the T-shirts would get to us at a later date. It's a pretty busy shirt.

Sir Peter Blake

If, you were a Kiwi (New Zealander) and, didn't know this man, they'd lock you up.

He's the most famous yachting sailor, who ever went out to sea.

Broke every ocean sailing record in the world including sailing around the world.

Peter Blake was the only one, to take the America's Cup from the Americas. Twice !

After 2000 America's Cup win, he retired from yacht racing and, became an environmentalist.

On an expedition to the Amazon in Brazil, he was killed by pirates.

Going after the robbers with a gun, Blake was shot twice and died instantly.

Travel Photo: Stuff You Can See in Okinawa

Motor scooter rider wearing Ari Force Marine t-shirt

Fortunately the Light Was Red

It would have been much more difficult, to catch this rider if, we were moving.

Usually, I wouldn't bother, shooting my camera, through someone's windshield.

When I noticed this fashionable shirt, it was time to grab the camera.

He probably has no idea, what that t-shirt says because, it's printed in English.

It's cool.  Many foreigners get Chinese or Japanese tattoos on their bodies.

That's cool, too. But, I wonder if, they really know, what the words mean, when translated.

The little scooter dude, motivated me, though. I tried-out for the Marines once.

Now, I'm wondering if, the Air Force would accept me !

Seen in One of Those City Shopping Centers

Not a Shopping Type Person

Yesterday was one of those Do Things for the Government Days.

My immigration card was ready to expire so, we had to go to a big city and renew it.

The wife convinced a daughter, we needed a ride or, Daddy might get deported.

So, off we went and got all my paperwork done and a brand new immigration card.

It took about ten minutes and, everybody was really nice.

Wishing all the officials a Merry Christmas, I left the place, knowing what would happen next.

piece of cake, eat me, t-shirt

The women, having saved me from the wrath of the government, needed to go shopping.

That's what they do.  Always.  Especially to relieve stress.

We went shopping. It made me think about starting to smoke cigarettes, again.

That's what I used to do, to keep from going into the store with shopping women.

But, I quit smoking about 6 months ago.  So, I went into the store; it's air-conditioned.

This t-shirt, I spotted made the trip all worthwhile.

They didn't have one in my size.

While nobody was looking, I snapped a cell-phone shot of it.

Now, I'm wondering.

How many people are running around, wearing something like this ?

We should probably go to town more often and, bring the big cameras.

Happy St. Pat's Day ! Here's a Spider Doin' a Jig

Huge spider, close-up photo

This one's got me beat.

Maybe, I'll just name it the Saint Patrick's Day Spider.

All dressed up in my green tuxedo (T-shirt) for the day, I didn't wander far from the office.

This brightly colored spider was out back and I took lots of photos of it.

But, I can't figure out what type of spider it is.

It does sort of look like a drunk Irishman trying to do the Irish Jig.

Dontcha think ?

Unbelievable: To Okinawa from New York -- It Cost What ?

Couldn't Wait 'Til  Xmas

The sweetest girl in the State of New York emailed me last week.

She said, "I just mailed your Christmas gift. I had to donate my left kidney to afford the postage."

Well, I figured she was joking.

The package arrived last night.

Yeah, I know. You ain't supposed to open Xmas presents until the 25th.

So, I just picked it up and squeezed it.

Then, I noticed the postage stamp. It was enough to buy several cases of beer.

The package was really soft. Damn. Maybe there's a kidney in there, I got thinking.

So, I went to bed.

This morning, I decided to open the package and, have a peek.

Hah !  I got a brand new t-shirt and I'm wearing it today.

You can see a small portion of my office and where I take my naps.

Those old trousers don't make my fanny look fat.  Or, do they ?

I know how outrageous the postage from New York to Okinawa is, and I'm wondering.

Do you think my niece's kidney will ever grow back ?

T-shirt of the Day (Photo)

Here's photo of the shirt on my back today.  I'm not sure if they have copyright, trademark infringement, patents, or any laws against anything south of the border, down Mexico way these days.

So I figure it's best to give credit to whoever designed this T-shirt. Somebody in Mexico.

Yep, that's my T-shirt and yup, I was in Mexico when I bought the thing.  But, I only wear it on special occasions, like the day after the wife's dog takes a leak on me.  He didn't actually mean to piss on me.

He just decided the planter I was focusing on while shooting Lilies needed his attention, too.
