An Uka-Uka (ぅかーぅか) Sort of Day

Call It Daydreaming

The word got into my vocabulary, yesterday because, I ate an Ukauka pizza.

There's no sense, running around these islands, eating if, I don't review the places.

Well, I had other things to catch up on and, put the writing on the back burner.

The camera business, kept me extremely busy, over the past few days.

So, I skipped doing my daily regimen of lifting cement blocks and doing calisthenics.

Early this morning, I made up for it, by doing a few hours of torturous training.

By 10 AM, I was exhausted, changed out of the sweatsuit and, went to get some breakfast.

Dark skies, gave me an idea. Eat then, take a two hour nap. That worked !

Except for One Thing

When, you have aching muscles, on a dreary day - Who feels like writing ?

Clearing out all the social media sites and checking emails, wore me down.

But, I got an idea from reading mail from the Travel Agent Academy.

They're always sending me reminders about travel courses, I can take. What the heck.

Certificate for travel professionals

Into the online academy, I went and, finished another course.

Now, I can find travel information around the globe, in just a few seconds.

A gazillion off the wall experiences, events, attractions and, things to do, are at my fingertips.

Once, I got that certificate, it was time to get back to doing my normal business.

Chef placing a vegetarian pizza in wood-burning oven, Ukauka

 Ukauka Pizzeria

This was where we had lunch, over on Sesoko Island, yesterday.

The chef  let me photograph him, preparing my meal in that wood-burning oven.

The professor and I, were freezing from being up on a mountain, in the rain.

So, this was a great place, to grab lunch and, get warmed up.

After we left, we had to make a stop, to grab some chicken; the pizza was vegetarian !

Today I Learned What Ukauka Means

The Jaded Network says, "daydreaming or not paying attention."

At Wikibooks - "to be careless or absentminded."

Well, I'm not sure if we were absentminded or daydreaming, when we walked into this place.

But, I know some friends and family, who would really love it.

So, I did a Google Maps review, for everyone.

The pizza was tasty. If, I go back there again, I'm sneaking some pepperoni in with me !

Six Hour Do It Yourself Paint Job: Photo Essay

The folks over in the Painter's Union may not appreciate this, but I saved a few hundred bucks today.

With the Pentax set up on a tripod, I used the 12 second timer to snap these photos.

If you ever get tired of looking at the same old walls in your house, you could do this too.

A paint roller, pan, trim brushes and water-based latex paint are the ingredients I bought.

Hop up on a little two-step ladder and start trimming in the top corner of a wall.

Spread that paint nice and thick with the brush and keep scooting along until you hit the far end of the wall.

Grab your pan and roller and start using them quick, like a bunny, before the brushed paint dries.

Then run over to another wall and trim everything, doors, windows, floorboards, electrical outlets, anything that can't be reached with the roller. Trimming takes the most time.

The room I was doing had this ugly blue color in one corner. It may need two coats of white paint.

It took awhile to decide, it would be easier to paint the wall white, than the fridge blue.

So, I pushed it around and painted the walls behind it.

Trimming around the all the remaining windows and doors, the rest of the paint got rolled.

Everything was done in less than six hours and hardly a drop of paint got anywhere it wasn't supposed to be, except a little bit on me.

Professional painters don't worry about getting a little paint on them.

If you want to be a do it yourself painter, be a professional one, too !

Shot Myself Today !

This isn't what I usually do but it was freezing cold outside and

I was trapped indoors.  I felt like a wild animal must feel stuck in a cage.  So, I took my cameras to my office and practiced shooting myself.

Really, I'm not into doing studio shots or any kind of indoor photography but, unfortunately, I have to.  It's part of this school I'm involved in and if I don't finish all my homework and graduate this year there's no telling what they might do to me.

Can they still drag you up in front of the whole class and whack your fanny with the BOARD OF EDUCATION?

That probably got outlawed in the last century, but, I'm not sure because I haven't been back to the USA in awhile.  I hear they have lots of lawyers making people behave and if anyone hurts you they promise to get you millions of dollars as long as you'll split it with them 50/50.

Somebody told me a fat lady spilled her coffee in her lap at a Drive-thru joint and got Six Million Dollars.  Is that true?

Well, anyway, I'm a Grandpa and I don't think I should have to do homework unless it's something that interests me.  Portraits, advertising, and fashion; they're all things I have to shoot to graduate from the professional camera school.  I'll do what I have to do and get it done.  And when I do, I'll go get my....

Millions the hard way, I'll work for them!
