Ryukyu Life Is Still Alive and Kickin'

There are just a few things undergoing repair and we should be back in business.

Besides the website and blog being in transition, there's this building.

So much racket and shaking going on around here, I head out to the countryside.

Out there with the birds and, other wildlife, it' much quieter.

Lots of time has been allotted to doing things outdoors, rather than doing website stuff.

Soon enough, it will be time to get daily website postings done.

It seems like staying outdoors with the cameras would be much more fun.

But, even with he birds, sometimes, you can have a crappy day !

The Bird Mrs. RyukyuMike Calls Alien (Photo)

Things got pretty hectic around here this week.

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, I was out shooting festivals.

Yesterday, we were all over the island, getting wildlife photos, Mostly birds is what I shot.

Last night, there was a get together with some sabani people.

We had a blast, drinking and singing in one of my favorite establishments.

When the better half woke up she asked me what time I got home.

Heck if I know.  When you come home exhausted, who looks at clocks ?

Not me.  I just crash.

Then she asks if I remembered to take my medicines. Yup, I always do.

The third question:  Where did you go with the cameras, yesterday ?

Rather than try and explain where I went and each bird I shot, I came up with an easy answer.

We went to the Kin Town marshlands and shot aliens.

She understands that. Because she calls these birds Aliens.

Blackwinged Stilts or, Himantopus himantopus are tongue twisters.

Wildlife Photo: Black-winged Stilts in Flight (Himantopus himantopus)

The Black-winged Stilts are just visitors during, the winter, to Okinawa, Japan. Sometime this month, they'll depart, if they haven't already. It's Friday here and I'll be out with the camera all weekend to see what migratory birds we have left.

This photo taken with a Pentax K10D and Sigma 50-500mm lens February 5, 2011 at the Okukubi River.
