This Ain't the Moon!

 Update on Volcano Eruptions

Uncooperative weather has canceled my full moon photography for October.

Mount Aso, in Kyushu, Japan blew its top and sent us these floating rocks.

Another one (underseas) at the Ogasawara Islands (near Iwo Jima) sent plenty more!

Many of our beaches are covered with pumice stones.

The ocean tides delivered volcanic pumice stones to beaches throughout the Okinawa islands.

Have you ever used a pumice stone to grind down callouses on your feet?

Well, I had to kick off the flip-flops and walk on the stuff, to see what it feels like.

This isn't some thirst trap; it's to give you a sense of scale. Ladies, GET BACK!

Here's what a size 12 left foot looks like in pumice stones on the beach.

The lightweight stones didn't fall out of the sky, where they might hit us on the heads.

They were delivered here by the sea.  Kyushu is over an hour's flight time from here.

What appears to be black sand in the lower part of this photo, is volcanic pumice.

We discovered this treasure at Uza Beach on the northern tip of Okinawa island.

A bag was filled with stones, to show the wife the floating rocks TV news was broadcasting.

Gardening with Pumice

Back at home, I did some research and learned about other uses for pumice stones.

We just might have to return to that beach and fill buckets with pumice stones.

Until last night, I never heard about using pumice stones in planters and gardens.

They call them soil amendments and, you can even throw the stuff into compost piles!

Decisions, decisions, buy garden pumice online or, go to the beach and get some FREE?

Don't Panic

Friends, relatives, people around the globe don't worry about us in Okinawa, Japan.

The volcanic eruption at Mount Aso is no big deal. We're all fine.

If you need some stuff to worry about, I'll show you volcanoes going off around the world.

The map shows volcanoes blowing their tops in RED!

Toilet Paper Panic Buying Hits Okinawa

corona-virus, buyers, Okinawa, Toilet paper, panic, Japan

Unbelievable!

This morning I was reading about the store shelves being cleaned-out by panic buyers.

People were worried about imports being cut-off from China due to Corona Virus 19.

Big cities all over Japan and even Naha the capital of Okinawa had toilet paper shortages.

The Japanese paper industry tried to calm their fears. Japan makes its own toilet paper.

I had a good laugh and spent the rest of my day doing serious stuff. Like taking a crap.

I walked to the local supermarket. Tea, ice cream and toilet paper were on the shopping list.

There wasn't a single roll of toilet paper on the shelves. Not even any baby wipes!

People Shouldn't Panic

First, it was paper face masks that disappeared from every store in town.

Now, we've got a toilet paper shortage because of panic buying. Damn it!

Next, I'll have to start collecting banana leaves to wipe my hairy bottom with.

If everybody starts doing that, next thing ya know there will be a banana shortage.

Two sources from today's news should assure everyone, there is no need to panic.

Kyodo News tells us there is no need to panic and cause toilet paper shortages.

Look at Mothership to see what this panic buying is causing throughout Japan.

Y'all better calm down and quit causing panic toilet paper buying.

Or, I might come to a neighborhood near you and swipe all the banana leaves!

Tick in a Bellybutton (Photo) Just What I Needed !

Oh, baby, you have no idea how long I've been waiting for this. Not just a tick in a bellybutton,  but, two of them.  Not just any bellybutton, either, that's my bellybutton and I can do anything I want with it.  Hah !

The timing could have been better, though.  I just got back in town after spending a day in the hot sun, along with Doc.  We went to a place most Americans call The Cave of the Virgins, to take photos.

You don't get to go in the caves.  It's a sacred site, Okinawa War memorial and a shockingly, sad story.

I'll post that for you after I get all my research done and have as many facts as I can possibly gather.

So, back to the ticks.  Doc dropped me off at my office.  He noticed, before I did, the door was already open.  The wife decided to clean the place.  She was in there, tables turned up, swabbing the floor with whatever women swab floors with.  Grr, I wanted to download photos and get developing.  I dropped my camera gear off where it looked like it'd be safe and said "Hi, Sugar" or something like that.

Then, in order not to get roped into a conversation or work, I started doing what any respectable man would do.  I made believe I was doing something important.  I started looking at my bellybutton.

When you find a tick in your bellybutton, it's best not to tell your wife.  Trust me, I know, somehow.

People even ask YAHOO WHAT TO DO when they panic over ticks in bellybuttons.

Don't panic.  Here's what I did.

I decided I needed an iced coffee.  That was my excuse to go across the street, get out in the sun again, and have a closer look at the tick I spotted.  This way nobody in my immediate family would have to freak out and call an ambulance or have blood pressure going through the roof.

Outside in the bright sunlight I could see a lot better. Ah, the great outdoors.  I hit the jackpot.  There's two of them in there.  Just little guys but, if I take real good care of them, they should grow up in just a few days.  I need them to get bigger for my project I've been planning.

See, up there in Mad Mike's Reviews, I mentioned I want to do a Swiss Army Knife Review.  And I even talked about using it to remove a tick from a bellybutton.  We'll have step by step instructions and photos.  This is the kinda stuff I love to do.  The real deal.

Just, don't anybody mention what I'm working on around the wife, OK ?

She'll freak out and have me going to the emergency room or have me sleeping with the dogs!
