Not This Way Earlier Today

Horrible gray sky with on and off rain showers sort of ruined my temperament today.

Some of the crazy remedies, I have consist of going out under a carport for exercise.

Several times a day, I get away from the computer monitors, to rest my eyes and get refreshed.

About 4:30 PM the sun, finally started shining. I decided to go for a walk, to buy some drinks.

The clouds, looking like a plowed field, I noticed as I left the office. Camera ?  Not yet.

Knowing, my luck if, I ran to grab something for photography, it would start raining, again.

 I spent 15 minutes, walking and enjoying the sunshine, while going for my refreshments.

It's a 2 minute walk to the vending machine but, I was formulating a plan.

By the time, I returned the clouds started moving in a direction, that suited me.

There wouldn't be time, to catch the scene, I wanted if, I fooled around changing lenses.

So, I grabbed the camera, I was using yesterday, equipped with an 18-250MM zoom.

Not too wild about telephone and electrical wires in my compositions, I shot, anyway.

Those distractions can be removed, afterwards but, I didn't feel like doing that.

When the timing was right, I climbed up on the roof and, shot this scene at 18MM.

Then, I started wondering, what those clouds would be called. I did some research.

At Allexperts (dot) com, somebody asked the same question, I put in the search engine.

What are those clouds called, that look like furrows, in a plowed field ?

They could be Altocumulus Undulatus.

Er maybe, Altocumulus Mackerel Sky 

 At the National Weather Service, 10 basic types of clouds are listed so, you can learn.

These clouds only lasted a few minutes, I'm guessing but, they made me happy.

Next time, I went out for some exercise and a break, they were all gone.

The wind blew and stuff flew and, who wants to be a weatherman anyway ?

Typhoon Sanba Could Make It A Wet Weekend

That's just my prediction.  You couldn't pay me to be a weatherman in Okinawa.

Typhoons have a way of becoming unpredictable.

When one of those Storm Tracker guys says it's gonna be a real doozie, he's only trying to help.

If we don't get hit by 100mph winds the poor guy gets all kinds of complaints.

Weathermen can't control nature.  They just try to predict as best they can.

Surfers like the weatherman.  He lets them know about the sea conditions the typhoon creates.

They say stuff like, "Dude, thanks for letting us know, surf's up !"

Well, I ain't sure how bad the winds will be blowing when Typhoon Sanba gets here.

But, just to play it safe, I'm unplugging all my gadgets and locking the place up.

It doesn't look too bad outside, right now.

Slight sprinkles of rain and the birds are still flying around outside my window.

 Typhoons almost always dump plenty of rain on us so, I plan on getting wet.

If the destructive winds follow the weatherman's predictions, the bars may not open tonight. 

Then, I'll just have to do like that dog in the photo above.

Typhoon Guchol Wants to Defy the Weathermen's Predictions

It'd probably be easier to predict how a third marriage will go than guess what this typhoon will do.

Today, Dave Ornauer, the "Typhoon Chaser" with Pacific Stars and Stripes newspaper, reported at 9:45AM (local time) that destructive winds of 58mph are expected within 12 hours.

At 9:47 I looked out the door and saw these protesters marching down the street.

They were going down the highway under blue skies and sunshine.

There's at least 60 people in that crowd and they didn't look scared of Typhoon Guchol, to me. 

This was Super Typhoon Guchol, yesterday, but, was downgraded, overnight.

There's no way you could get me to be a weatherman, during typhoon season in Okinawa, Japan.

The things are more unpredictable than a third wife.

Just for the heck of it, I'm going to go buy some cheeseburgers.

And set one on the kitchen table to see what the wife does.

Bet she eats it.  Hah ! 

Tuesday's Travel Photo: Everyone Should Try Island Hopping

The weather guy predicted rain today so, I figured it would be a real bummer.

The sun was shining when I woke up.

Walked the dogs to the beach, real quick and woke up RyukyuRu on the way home.

We grabbed cameras and went island hopping all day long.

That's what everyone should do whenever the weatherman guesses wrong about the rain.

Go island hopping.  

What if you don't have any islands around ?

Go bar hopping, Scotch hopping/Hop scotching or whatever they call it.

I'm hoping the weather dude is lying about rain again tomorrow. Hah !
