DIY All Natural Fruit Fly Killer

Just A Drop of Dish Soap

There has been way too much rain this month for my usual Full Moon photography.

It did make some short appearances but, avoided my fooling around with the camera.

Spending plenty of time indoors I noticed fruit flies hanging around the kitchen.

In Japan, this is what Apple Cider Vinegar in a bottle looks like.

It's been a while since I searched the internet for a natural way to eliminate these bugs.

So, you might want to Google it yourself for recipes.

Here's how it all started. Just put one drop of dish soap in a container.

If you like feeling silly, sing a Mary Poppins song, the pesty insects might like it, too!

The Bottle of Vinegar May Last a Whole Year!

Sometimes I'll put a splash of vinegar on my salad but, not even a teaspoon full.

For the month of December, I'm posting a photo of how many fruit flies have drowned.

Not bad, considering I spilled the thing once after the first week, trying to count the bugs.

There aren't any more fruit flies buzzing around my apples, bananas, and pears.

Some folks would probably suggest keeping fruits in the refrigerator.

But, that would put way too much restriction on how many beers could fit in there!

Here's a Pioneer Woman's Recipe, I found for you to try.

Last Conversation with Apple's Siri

It was a Beautiful Day

The sweltering summer heat and humidity, sort of, got blown away.

There hasn't been a better day, in the month of September, to go for a long hike.

A quick check of emails and, I'd be out the door with the cameras.

Beeps and bings, started going off on the computer and charging iPhone.

Some sort of update, needed to be installed, the iTunes told me.

After going through all kind of frustration, even fingerprinting, I was all set.

Push the Start Button and Here Comes Siri

A long time ago, I got rid of that useless witch but, the update brought her  back.

Every time, I turned the phone on, I couldn't get my home screen to show.

Siri, would turn herself on and, ask the same stupid question. What can I help you with ?

First I asked, "How can I get Siri off my iPhone?"

She said, "I can't help you with that."

Apple Should Get Rid of Siri

People who want to impress themselves with, talking to robots, can buy phones elsewhere.

They want to act like some kind of astronauts or something. Join NASA.

Regular earthlings, like me, don't need stupid robots, to talk to.

Almost a whole day was wasted, trying to get my phone, working again.

Finally, I caved and played Siri's stupid game because, there was nothing left to do.

I explained to her, the update made my usual iPhone home screen disappear.

The witch goes, "That's an interesting question Michael."

And, she never came back with a solution. Just left me hanging, smoking and cussing.

Finally, I went and Googled "How to turn off Siri."

Got rid of her and,  learned some new stuff along the way.

Triple clicking, rebooting and punching the phone around the office, it began working again.

Since Apple got my fingerprint, I figured I'd better not cuss at Siri.

So, I toned it down a bit and, sent her my last message. I really wish her a fertile future !

End of rant

When Your Apple Computer Gets A Bug Don't Panic

Sometimes, a little bug gets into a MAC from Apple Computers.  Don't panic.

You can fix it yourself.  Here's all you need to do.

Keep an eye on the little guy.

When he stares at you.  Stare back and don't bat an eyelash.

You have to let him know who's the boss.

He'll get the idea.

And leave.

Photo Essay: Look Out World RyukyuMike's Doin Stuff with iMac !

It ain't been a full 24 hours, yet but, I just have to show everybody this nifty machine I bought yesterday.

It came in this cardboard box with a convenient carrying handle so, I guess you could consider it a laptop if you have a really big lap.  It isn't all that heavy.
After I pulled it out of the box and set it on the bar, I found all these goodies inside.  I just grabbed the stuff I needed to get the thing running and read part of one book so I could get online quick.

Maybe, someday I'll check and see what else I might need to know and maybe, I won't.  Always busy...
Within 10 minutes (no kidding) the iMac was up and running.  Just plug in the power cord and flip the switches on the mouse, keyboard and the back of the machine and it lights up blasts an Apple Tune, or something at you.  Then you're in business. Hah, I didn't even get a guru to help me !
There are some symbols and language I have to learn because Windows and Mac ain't the same but, I think the Apple folks are going to make my life easier.  They put the keyboard in clear plastic wrap so, when I spill coffee or drop a lit cigarette on it I can probably do something before the "S" key melts, like it did on my last brand new computer.  REF: RANT: PLASTIC TYPING KEYS

I like the big stand this computer sets on.  It's just a pain hauling those cement blocks into the bar whenever it's too hot for flipflops under my Windows laptops.  REF: REDNECK COOLING TOWER

The Apple guys gave me enough stuff to build a dehumidifier locker for my cameras, too.  They even included two bags of desiccant, free.  I'll be storing all my cameras and lenses there for awhile.

It's a fairly good-sized box.  I just hope the missus doesn't get any ideas about making a suitcase out of it.

Now, you know, I don't rush into doing Mad Mike's Reviews on anything.  So, I'll be doin lots of stuff on this iMac before I'm ready to compare it with those two Windows guys.

So far, I did like the way iMac was easy to set up and I love the box it came in !
