No Birds Shot in the Wild Today -- So Here's Some Statues

Okinawan Rail or Kuina bird statues outside a restaurant

After yesterday's hike up castle ruin walls, I stayed in today.

Hours were spent doing what they used to call writing.

Remember the old days when that meant pushing around a pen on a big piece of paper ?

Now, it's more like pecking away on a keyboard.

People should see the way I do this stuff.

Type with only the two index fingers and bang those keys really hard.

It's to make sure the ink, sticks on the digital paper alright.

Five or six letters get on there before I realize, I made a mistake.

Then, instead of doing the Delete thing, I tap the backspace button.

And, I hit that, real hard, too.

I figure, if you put the ink on there with a lot of force, you have to get it off the same way.

Lots of times, I complain about those guys who invented computers.

The Apple and Windows Dudes, I suspect may have been Communists.

Nobody would believe how much I have cussed them out over the years.

I could open a recycle shop with all the bent keyboards and computers, lying around here.

By the day's end, my neck and shoulders are all knotted up.

And, my eyes are sore from squinting.

The only good thing about writing, is the end of the day.

It gives you an excuse to go get a massage, howl at the moon or, drink beer.

The moon isn't visible tonight and massages tickle me so, I'll go for a drink.

By the time anybody sees those kuina birds, I'll be outta here !

A Week Full of Fun, Photos and New Stuff. Dang, I Got Busy !

This week started off with a visit to another island and an event inside a cave.

There's a story, for sure, coming out of this, once I get it all sorted out.

But, plenty of research needs to be done so I can give you an accurate account of what took place.

Most of the time, when I'm at some cultural event like this, I get so wrapped up with trying to compose the best possible photos, I kind of miss out on what's really going on around me.

The middle of the week saw me chasing unidentified flying butterflies.

What I normally do with these critters is take plenty of shots.

Get them at different positions and from several angles.

The color isn't the only thing you need to ID a butterfly.

Markings and colors on the wings are important.

The size and shape of their body and antenna give you some clues, too.

Well, I just got so busy developing photos from that cave and butterflies I've been chasing this week, that I ran out of time to complete my research.

 But, I'm counting my blessings.

One of the women from the cave whacked me with a stick.

And did some prayers by the fire.

Maybe, my fortunes will change.

Look at what I found this week.

That's my new office. I'll be moving uptown, soon.

Once I get that place hooked up to the world wide web, I'll be back in business.

Then, I can have three computers running at the same time and not get so far behind when I'm busy !

Mad Mike's Review: Here's A Guru Contact to Fix Your PC FREE !

YA HU HU HU, I FOUND A FREE PC GURU !

There are way too many photography programs, files and other doohickeys installed on my poor old workhorse Windows PC's for me to just throw them out in the street.

Even though I overextended myself a tad buying that Apple machine I like the way it keeps running without any interference from the Microsoft thugs.

An Apple guy, or gal, comes in every night, cleans the MAC and updates stuff while I'm sleeping.

Windows thugs are always waiting 'til I'm trying to do something important and throw stuff in my PC's to slow them down.

Then, when I decide I want to shut down and go home they say stuff like

"DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER WE ARE INSTALLING SOMETHING".

And I usually say something like, "______ YOU !   I PAID FOR THIS COMPUTER".

EMPEROR BILLY GATES CAN'T TELL ME WHEN I CAN AND CAN'T GO HOME.

I DON'T WORK FOR NO DICTATORS.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I'm going to keep using the PC's I bought from the Windows thugs until they melt down because I have so much invested in software I installed on them.

In the past I have had some malware bugs, had to buy programs to gobble up worms and even did a Mad Mike's Review on REGISTRY MECHANIC.

With Registry Mechanic, Spy Doctor, and McAfee I managed to keep things running.

All of a sudden, a new year rolls around and everybody wants their annual fees.

GROAN

Well, one of my PC's just locked up on me yesterday while I was trying to shut it down.

It was three hours SHUTTING DOWN and wouldn't quit.

So, I yanked out the power cord, flipped the laptop over, ripped out the battery and got it to shut off !

Have no fear.  I'm a patient sort of individual.

For the whole three hours the stupid thing wouldn't quit shutting down, I was on the MAC doing my research.

For every problem a Windows PC can have there are hundreds of people just like that

EMPEROR BILLY GATES

They want you to sign up, login, give your email address, try this free program so we can fix your Windows PC, install some more bugs and sell you the NEW IMPROVED VERSION OF OUR SPECIAL SUPER BUG CLEANER.

THEY WANT TO BE EMPEROR ENTREPRENEURS, TOO !

THE GURU TO CONTACT AT YAHOO ANSWERS:

GREGG DESELMS

Now, the problem I linked you to was for Windows is getting stuck at "Shutting Down" screen.

But, read the whole article and you'll find FREE FIXES FOR ALL KINDS OF STUFF.

What I did was tune up both my PCs with the things I found there and they're screaming, now.

Read  Gregg's profile and email him if you'd like.

The best kind of Guru to contact is one that's free.

This Guru gets a five star Mad Mike's Review from me !

When Your Apple Computer Gets A Bug Don't Panic

Sometimes, a little bug gets into a MAC from Apple Computers.  Don't panic.

You can fix it yourself.  Here's all you need to do.

Keep an eye on the little guy.

When he stares at you.  Stare back and don't bat an eyelash.

You have to let him know who's the boss.

He'll get the idea.

And leave.

How-to Take Winning Screenshots With No Hassles Whatsoever

This post was inspired by many people asking me how to do a screenshot.

Trust me, I am not the brightest light on the Xmas tree when it comes to computers.

My MACS for DUMMIES book just taught me this the other day.

Push SHIFT, COMMAND and NUMBER 3 all at the same time.

The computer makes a CLICK noise just like a DSLR CAMERA.

And, the Screenshot, which is really a JPEG photo, shows up on your monitor.

Windows PC's are a little different.  You can go to Windows HELP and try what they tell you but, I could never understand all the hi-tek talk they use so, I went to this place.

AND GOT SCREENHUNTER 5.1 FOR FREE !

What you see when you double click the Screenhunter 5.1 installed on your desktop is pictured in the photo above.  I always set mine so it's on STANDBY and single hotkey F6.

So, when I'm ready to snatch a screenshot, I just press CTRL and F6 and the thing snaps a shot CLICK and a little window pops up asking me if it's alright to save it on my desktop.

So, I say "OK".  And that's what it does, after I push the OK button.

Here's a screenshot of SOPHIE'S WORLD

Always give credit (Links are best) to anyplace you take screenshots from, or you could wind up in big trouble.  Some people, such as myself, don't take kindly to thievery.

Another hint: It's best to set your browser window to fullscreen before you take the screenshot.

SPLICE TODAY COMES TO MY OFFICE DAILY

Take fullscreen shots, so you have room to edit them later.

I'm hoping that NEWSMAN OVER THERE DON'T MIND MY EDITING.
.
He could take me to court, but probably, already knows, I ain't got no money.

Jim over at HOLES IN MY SOLES well, he knows how it is these days being a cameraman.

After I took this screenshot, I cropped and sharpened it a bit so I can go back and read it later.

SCOTLAND HERE AND NOW

Once you know how to shoot screenshots it's important to learn about filing them.

They will have real long names like, Screenshot, or ScreenHunter_01, 02 May, 18 13:54 .

Before the month is out your whole dashboard will be cluttered up with screenshots and you won't be able to see clearly anymore.  So, get them off the monitor and stick them in  folders.

GOYA REPUBLIC

It's a lot easier to find stuff when you rename the file something like Goya Republic.
Cut and Paste it into a Goya, Scotland, Holes, Splice or Sophie Folder.  Or, a Nov 2011 Folder.
Then, it's easy to find if you ever need it again.

Doc, I didn't want to leave him out of this demonstration.  So, here he is adding some color and contrast to my blog post today.

Learn how to take winning screenshots on your computer because I'm looking at how to celebrate the 750,000th view on this blog. A screenshot of the event may determine the winner.
Standby for more.....

Visit the links to my screenshots above and give them a thumbs up, that's what I do !

Registry Mechanic for Your PC: A Not a Nerd's Product Review

Here's a screenshot taken off my Window 7 laptop, just a few minutes ago.  If I wasn't typing on this old Vista machine, I'd shoot this screen, too.  But, you'd only see the same thing as in the picture above.

This Morning the needle on both Health Meters ( what I call them ) wasn't so good.  Look up in the righthand corner.  If my PCs get any healthier, it'll break the meter.

Remember, this is not a computer nerd, geek, guru, or whatever else you call people who know what they're doing around computers.  I'll give you some links to folks who speak that language, later.

To me, RegistryMechanic is the best thing that came along since bottled beer.

Now, being a cameraman, I upload, download and delete massive files on my PCs, every day.  I know all about Ccleaner, defragging and all the other good stuff you're supposed to do and I do them just about every day, too.

Fooling around with StumbleUpon, Facebook and a whole slew of social networking sites and having idiots loading unwanted music and videos into my PCs, sometimes causes problems.

It seems, to me, that besides leftover traces of photos I work on, a lot of garbage I pick up while surfing the internet piles up in my registry, whatever the hell that is.

Before long, the PCs start slowing down.  Sometimes, right in the middle of some important work,  the PC locks-up.  The screen may whiteout, or it may go totally black.  It's the registry.  I figured it out.

Well, I did a little research and read some good reviews about this Registry Mechanic and liked what I saw so, I downloaded the FREE TRIAL version.

It's OK. It'll tell you how many hundred or thousand problems your PC has in the registry.  It will fix six, or so, of them for free.  Then, if you want everything fixed, you better buy the real deal.

First, I bought one, one year subscription, for one computer.  The poor puppy was on it's last leg.

When I installed the download and turned it loose, it gobbled up over 3,000 pieces of garbage in my register, ( whatever that is ) and the PC came back to life.

It probably would have been a good idea to read the instructions but, I didn't.

The PC was running fine so, I was happy.  Every day I'd push some of the buttons on the righthand side of the screen above.  Clean, Defragment, Tuneup and wharever else they have to offer.

After a month or so, the health meter started sliding back towards the middle.  On my other PC ( which I also installed the Mechanic ) it got way down to Low System Health.  That's my newer computer. Damn !

So, this morning, I discovered something.  I pushed the GREEN BUTTON right below the meter "START SCAN".  It gobbled up 3,000 more pieces of junk that had piled themselves in my register, whatever that means.

And there you have it.  The picture above is from my PC that was sick this morning.  Healthy.

Now, that I think I know what I'm doing, I like Registry Mechanic.  It kicks some butt.

Would I recommend it to my friends?  YUP !

My only complaint would be this:  Why don't they make it so a redlight flashes when your PC gets sick?  Like, for people who are not nerd's.  It could say "Hit the GREEN START BUTTON".

When I pay 25 bucks for something, I don't expect to have to sit in front of a computer monitor and stare at the thing reading a bunch of instructions.  Registry Mechanic gets four stars, for now.
