Flower Fields or Museums ?

 

 

These last few winter days, just before spring breaks out, drive me crazy.

Where we will go with the cameras, depends on Mother Nature.

Weathermen, in Okinawa, I don't pay any attention to, because they are unpredictable, too.

On a Pacific island the weather just happens.

If the day turns out like this, I'll be in the iris fields of Ogimi.

But, if it rains or gets cold and cloudy, I'll shoot something like this museum.

Maybe we should call outdoors, Plan A.

And, indoors, Plan B.

When the sun comes up tomorrow, I'll sniff the air and make a decision.

Which type of travel personality do you have, plan A or B ?

Happy St. Pat's Day ! Here's a Spider Doin' a Jig

This one's got me beat.

Maybe, I'll just name it the Saint Patrick's Day Spider.

All dressed up in my green tuxedo (T-shirt) for the day, I didn't wander far from the office.

This brightly colored spider was out back and I took lots of photos of it.

But, I can't figure out what type of spider it is.

It does sort of look like a drunk Irishman trying to do the Irish Jig.

Full Moon March 16, 2014 Over Kin Town Okinawa Japan

The moon did look fuller tonight than, last night.

This photo was taken at 6:48PM Japan Standard Time.

Camera:  Pentax K3

Lens:  Sigma 50-500mm at 500mm

Exposure:  f/11  1/25   ISO 100

But the Osprey Was a Fast Mover

 

 

There seems to be some discrepancy about this month's Full Moon.

According to the Chinese Lunar Calendar, it was tonight.

Farmer's Almanac, says it's tomorrow and other places, say it will be Monday.

Well, I went and climbed a tower to wait for moonrise.

Before the moon showed up, along came this Osprey Flying machine.

That gave me an idea.  

Wait until I could compose a scene with some background in it for that Auto Awesome thing.

 

It took some doing because I don't have any control over where those birds fly.

The plane flying past the red bridge that connects two outer islands was just what I needed.

The Pentax K3 takes more than 8 photo frames a second.

So, I fired off about 10 continuous shots while panning the camera on a tripod.

It was 6:20PM  when this scene was created.

The Full Moon showed up and I took this photo at 6:45PM.

By 7PM, I was out of the tower in Kin Town and, back in my office, downloading the camera.

Getting Photos of the Full Moon Can Be Tricky

 

 

This one isn't quite full but, when it peeked through the clouds, I shot it.

It was 6:46PM and the image was made with the Pentax K3.

Using a tripod and Sigma 50-500mm, I sat down on my front steps.

Location: Kin Town, Okinawa, Japan

Five minutes later, the moon disappeared behind some fast moving clouds.

Maybe, we'll have better luck tomorrow.
