Staying High and Dry Waiting for Storms to Blow By

There are a few little tropical storms brewing out over the ocean.

Nothing to panic about but, there will be plenty of rainfall the rest of this week.

We headed north this morning, to get out and soak up a bit of sunshine and fresh air.

It sprinkled rain, on and off, a few times but, there was sunshine, too.

When the temperatures and humidity hit the 90's, I don't mind getting rained on a bit.

 

At higher elevations, the breeze felt good, as long as there was some shade available.

 Looking down at Shioya Bay, I decided to take advantage of the blue skies in this scene.

The Shioya bridge is in the lower third of the frame.

Out in the center, a little rain squall is passing through, dropping 100% humidity to earth.

This is a scene, I'd like to re-create, on a nice clear day.

There's really no reason, to panic. It looks like Okinawa won't have a big typhoon.

Living in a tropical paradise, storms can be expected, sometimes.

It's a good idea to plan for the worst and hope for the best.

So, my plan consists of, going to get some candles, flashlight batteries and beer !

Blue Butterfly Can Remain a Mystery (Photos)

These photos of little blue butterflies were taken in Okinawa, Japan.

Since mid November I've been trying to get a positive ID.

So far, I have it narrowed down to a Japanese name.

Yamato shijimi sounds cool.

Yamato, is the ancient name for Japan.

But, I'm not sure what we would call this critter in English.

  

Shooting butterflies isn't what's in the plan when I go looking for wildlife.

But, when nothing else shows-up, I use them for target practice.

These little rascals are smaller than a thumbnail and, don't like to sit still.

A Scientific Name Would be Great

 

But, in this case I've decided to let this guy remain a mystery.

See, I figure, what the heck. 

How many people, really consider butterflies, wildlife ?

If you were planning a wild party, would invite butterflies over ?

Me neither !

Today the Dragonflies Came in Red, Gold and Blue (Photos)

Today I was off  Okinawa proper and hit some of the outer islands.  The camera is downloaded and recharging for the next trip and there are a few hundred photos waiting development. 

I'll just post these three dragonflies in the order they were photographed.

The photos were taken at the base of a waterfall on Miyagi Island.

The red dragonfly showed up first.

Then, the gold one.

Last but, not least the blue dragonfly posed for me with the water in the background.

If you had to choose a color for a dragonfly which one would you go for the red, golden, or blue ?
