  Same Bird Seen in Yesterday's Photo

 

 

These little devils hop from branch to branch in a just split second.

This camera settings used, were exactly the same in, taking both images.

The only difference, is the  branch the bird posed on and, it happened to be, 27 seconds later.

If, it seems like, I'm in a rush, to get out of here tonight, you're right.

Tomorrow a sweetheart of mine graduates from high school and, I don't want to miss it.

The last time I saw her graduate, I had to shoot everybody, to  make sure, I didn't miss !

Monday Drive with the Professor and the Gals I Met

There's No Such Thing as Blue Monday on Okinawa

 

The day started with some research on another island just a short drive away.

Getting ready for some serious cultural photography takes a bit of advanced planning.

It's best to meet the locals, learn some history and become familiar with the lay of the land.

Being the not-so-studious-person that I am, I like to have a little fun, too.

Doc, the professor, probably wishes he left me behind, sometimes.

That's because I say stuff like, "Wait.  I have to see if I can borrow a girl to pose with me here."

See.  

I got him to pull the trigger for this shot.

This is serious business.  I wish I would have smiled.  But it hurt squeezing my face in that board.

 It was lunchtime before I bothered another gal.

She was shy about having her photo taken so, I promised to just shoot her hands.

By early afternoon we were back on the island of Okinawa.

This is at the University of Maryland.

When I spotted that girl I asked if I could take her picture.

There's a group called "Girls with Flowers in Their Hair" I post photos in, on Flickr.

So, I told her, to just keep on going-about her business, and I'd shoot some natural-work photos.

She was such a sweet girl, I had to sneak behind the counter to shoot more.

While Doc was getting professor stuff done, I was talking and shooting.

They don't see many people wearing yellow flip-flops in that office.

So, I showed myself around.

This is Adriesa Kane, the last gal I met on our Monday drive.

That college better take good care of her.

She could run away and become a supermodel.  Dontcha think ?

When Birds in the Wild Don't Want to Pose

Getting more than one bird in the wild to pose for your camera can be a real challenge.

There always seems to be one that doesn't want to cooperate. 

Sometimes, you just have to shoot as many photos as you can.  It may take hours.

And, you may fill up some SD cards with plenty of photos to delete.

When you edit the photos after downloading just crop the uncooperative birds out.

These Black-winged Stilts (Himantopus himantopus) are migratory birds that visit Okinawa from November through March.

Then and Now: An Okinawan Sweetheart (Photos)

Yup, I got her permission.  Nope, I ain't givin her name away.

Here is a photo of this gal, I met up in Bise Okinawa, Japan.

It was taken, probably, before colored film became popular and maybe, before it was even invented.

Let's just say this picture is from way back then.

And here's a photo of the little sweetheart now.

You know, a gentleman doesn't ask a lady her age.  So, I did.

But, I aint givin that away, either.

Let's just say somewhere around ahem, ahum, not any younger than me.

See the island in this photo?

That'd be IeShima.  It's the island I went to for the Easter Lily Festival.

The gal in the photos above modeled for an airline poster with that island in the background.

That was way back then.  She promised to go and strike the same pose for me at the same location for a Then and Now Series I'm putting together.  Wouldn't that be cool?
