Before Taking Your Clothes Off Tonight Read This !

It Could Have Made the Silly Sign Page

This was the first photo I shot on the way to the 2013 Sabani Boat Race.

The ferry ride from Okinawa to Zamami Island can get boring if you don't know what to do.

Most people hangout in the air conditioned compartments, not me.

On the upper deck, out in the fresh air, is where I like to be.

When I saw the sign, DO NOT TAKE OFF CLOTHES, I had to shoot it.

They must have had a problem with people getting naked up there, in the past.

It got me wondering.  Where did they think they were, in Europe or something ?

Now That I Have Your Attention

There's something funny going on these days with the internet thingy.

Fooling around with the social networks gets some traffic on websites so, we all use them.

The Facebook dude, I like to call Zuckerberganator, is really alright, sometimes.

And, the folks over at Twitter, spread a lot of information, too.

Being an old guy, though, I can't sit all day squinting at the little tweets and shares.

It's been around awhile now, that Google+ thing and, I just started using it.

Some of the guru dudes I met online are saying things like this:

It looks like the Googlenator will gobble all the other social networks-up.

Then, it'd be alright to take your clothes off and have a good night's sleep.

Another Silly Sign: Let Out English-speaking Staff

This gem was spotted today somewhere in Okinawa, Japan.

"Call us now and let out English-speaking staff assist you."

There's no telling, how these silly signs are created.

Maybe, there was a typo when they placed the order.

They hit the "r" instead of "t" like I do, almost every day.

The reason I post these silly signs isn't to be mean.

They just seem funny, to me and, I think everybody needs a good laugh, now and then.

The government should hire someone with a degree in English.

They could create a Minister of Misspellings and Bad Grammar.

That way plenty of the silly signs could be corrected.

Now, I don't have an English degree and, I'm really busy.

But, I could point people in the right direction if they wanted my assistance.

My services would be reasonable, too.

It would be a lot cheaper than trying to invent a spell-checker for a paint bucket!

Sunday Silly Sign for January 6, 2013 (Photo)

A whole year was spent chasing down silly signs for a Sunday post.

Thinking there weren't any more left, to take photos of, I figured, we gotterdun.

This one was sent to me by an alert reader, here in Okinawa, Japan.

This Sign Requires Some Translation

First, I have to give you some background.  My friend was in a Japanese Hospital.

Like any normal guy, he was looking for something to read, while the lady was with the doctor.

There isn't really much, in the English language to read around there.

So, I guess he got bored and started looking at the trash cans.

This sign was on top of the trashcan for burnable (もえるゴミ) material.

COMBUSTIBLOES !!!

He immediately took a shot of it with his cell-phone and emailed it to me.

When I asked what they had on the trashcan for non-burnables, he said he saw.....

NON-COMBUSTIBLOES !

But, I think he was laughing so hard, he couldn't hold the cell-phone camera still.

This was in a hospital.  The doctor speaks English.

Now, I'm sorta worried about my friend and his missus because of this silly sign.

Maybe, the doctor fell asleep during spelling class when he was a little kid.

Do you suppose they let a guy like that deliver babies ?

Silly Sign: If It Were My Home I Wouldn't Be So Calm

Somebody Put Too Much Sugar in My Coffee

One of my sweetest sister-in-laws stopped by
the office last night.
She gave me a whole case of canned coffee.

I can't complain. Free stuff  always tastes better.
So, I drank six cans.  I shouldn't have.

Way Too Much Sugar Makes You Silly

There are articles to be written and photos to process.
But, the brain refuses to cooperate.

A sugar high is worse than having writer's block.
The brain tries to put 10 stories out per minute.

Fortunately, the two typing fingers went on strike.

Just A Quick Silly Sign and I'm Outta Here

Luckily, I had this silly sign tucked away for a rainy day.

The typhoon blew through here without doing much damage. All is well.

Only, someone forgot to tell the rain to stop.

After being cooped-up in the house for 24 hours cabin fever sets in.

Shucks, I can't remember the last time I tasted a cold beer.

Thunder and lightning just started joining the cats and dogs raining down.

So, I better grab an umbrella, unplug all my gadgets and see if any bars opened tonight.

What does Power Rear Under Mirror mean ?

Beats the devil outta me.

I was afraid to look in there to find out !

Silly Sign: I'm More Aware of Butts When I Walk My Dog

There's no telling how I missed this silly sign back when I was doing them on Sundays.

The dude is aware.  That's what gets him thinking,

"THE CIGARETTE BUTTS ARE ALWAYS MORE NOTICEABLE

WHEN I'M WALKING MY DOG."

Look at that thing to the right of the cigarette butt.

Not sure, if it's an ant or, a pair of runaway sunglasses !

Sunday's Silly Sign (Photo)

A Silly Sign Photo a week may be more than I can handle. Sunday comes around a lot faster than I thought it would. As a matter of fact, it's Monday in Japan, already.

Here is a photo taken by my Nephew, Jarod Sampson. He's a college Dude back in the USA somewhere. Virginia, I think.

Anyhow, I gave him a quick class on the PANASONIC DMC-FZ50 one night and turned him loose walking around Kin Village in Okinawa, Japan while I was tending to other things, like my own bar.

It's kinda cool seeing what photos someone else finds to shoot around here. I'd have never thought of taking this shot. I haven't been a college Dude in awhile, either.

I know, a sign like this may offend some women. Hot Beer and Ugly Women, huh ?

Who knows?  It may be good for that other bar's business. I'll have to go check it out sometime.

If it works, maybe, I'll have someone paint a sign on My Place and draw a big crowd to my bar.
I could have a silly sign that says "Cold Beer and  One Hot Grandpa".  Think it'd work ?

Sunday's Silly Sign (Photo)

I decided to start posting a sign a week and Sunday sounds like a good day to do it.  It should help me keep my eyes open and I'll have to make sure I shoot a new photo of a sign, somewhere, at least once a week.

There are interesting, funny and even hilarious signs all over Japan and I think you could make a fortune correcting the English on some of them.

But, you never know. Many of them could have been misspelled deliberately. I do things like that, right here on my blog just to let that Spelchek Dude know who's the boss around here, sometimes.

This sign is at the top of a stairway on the Zakimi Castle wall in Yomitan Okinawa, Japan.  It lets you know, if you don't pay attention, you could fall all the way back down the stairs, I guess.

Or, it could be a warning to people who might want to lean too far over the wall once they reach the top. They could fall outside the castle walls and the UNESCO folks probably don't want to get involved in a bunch of lawsuits.

Are there silly signs like this at UNESCO Castles anywhere else in the world or only in Japan, I wonder ?
