Enough of Corona-virus Mudslinging

bird, corona-virus, Grey-faced Buzzard, China, Japan, mudslinging, Okinawa, politicians

Bird has a Message

Migratory birds will soon depart the Okinawa islands.

Here's a Grey-faced Buzzard ready to fly north as winter comes to an end.

These birds live here from October or November until March when the weather gets warmer.

Home for them could be China, Japan or Russia.

Taiwan sees the same migrants that winter in the Ryukyu Islands.

Where Would Be the Closest Destination?

With all the news out of Wuhan, China I decided to see if I could locate it on a map.

China would be the shortest flight for the migration of birds.

From Naha, Okinawa to Wuhan, China it's 869 miles or, about 1,400 kilometers.

Our feathered friends wouldn't have such a long flight if they headed over to China.

World Leaders and Politicians

Around the globe lawmakers from the left, right and middle, rant on the news every day.

They should stop ridiculing others and work together on this corona-virus problem.

Quit making up conspiracy theories and blaming foreigners for their problems.

Where's the Message from the Bird?

Well, I ain't a politician or world leader so, there's no sense in trying to act like one.

See, I just hope that bird flys to China and poops on their leader's head!

Kin Town Garbage Truck Got Me Thinking

Trash collection truck, Kin Town, Okinawa

Honor the Profession

They way I look at things, the guy driving the garbage truck, deserves a lot of respect.

The guy driving that truck, gets a wave and smile from me every time we cross paths.

He waves and smiles back. He knows, I'd give him the shirt off my back and, he'd do the same for me.

Everyone, around the globe should think, the way I do, about these hard workers.

There are politicians and preachers involved in the garbage industry, as well.

They work in a different aspect of the industry. Let's call it "distribution."

Whereas, the guy down on the street, is involved in the "collection" aspect of the business.

Don't you think, they should all be paid equal wages ?

Nature of Politics: Presented by Three Birds

Three Spoonbill birds on a rock

Black-faced Spoonbills Discussion

Left Bird: My way or, I crap on this rock.

Right Bird: My way or, I crap on this rock.

Middle Bird: Quit arguing or, I crap on this rock.

End of the Day

The birds fly off  and, they are still friends.

Mother Nature has to clean the crap off the rock.

That's a crappy Tweet or Facebook post you could send everybody !

Passing Through a Protest in Okinawa: Motion GIFs

Saturday Picnic Atmosphere

Most foreigners would probably have enough sense to avoid these rallies.

And, that's not such a bad idea.

Okinawan protestors, aren't criminals, though and, are usually peaceful demonstrators.

protestors,marching

The highway we were taking north, yesterday had some folks out protesting.

Rather than, take a detour and, miss out on the excitement, we drove through it.

With the whole back seat to myself, I got a chance to shoot through the windows of my choice.

Traffic,  slowed down somewhat but, the delay wasn't too long.

Too bad, we were on a different assignment and, couldn't spend the day here.

It's fun, taking pictures of all the people wearing different colors.

Getting along with these folks, is no problem, for me.

They may have all kinds of issues to protest about but, I don't take sides.

Taking photos, is what I do and, if somebody seems a little grumpy, I handle it.

Just say stuff like, "Aloha or, Merry Christmas."

Then, they know, you aren't some government worker and, you are OK.

A Political Columnist

This morning, there was an article in the Japan Times, about this event.

Somebody named, Jon Mitchell saw things, much differently than, me.

If you are into that sort of stuff, read it.

He says, there were over 3,500 protestors and all kinds of stuff, I didn't see.

Like, over 100 boats, Tokyo sent to scare protestors away from the ocean.  Hah !

It makes me wonder.  Was he really there ?

Okinawan Style Campaigning in the Rain: A Short Photo Essay

In Case You Haven't Already Guessed

Whoever designed me, didn't put any political bones in my body.

Last night, on the way home, I was invited to this political event and said "OK."

There wasn't anything important on my schedule so, I agreed to go, if the weather was nice.

election,campaign,rain,politics,humor

It turned out to be, a not so nice day.

But the people out there being supportive, impressed me so, I went and got wet, too.

campaigning alongside highway in rain

Backing up a bit off the highway, seemed like a good idea.

The participants were all happy, waving and smiling at every passing vehicle.

action scene from election campaign

There was hootin' and hollerin' accompanied by a live band.

election campaign activity

It made you feel like dancing in the rain.

So, that's what a bunch of people started to do.

That got me thinking.

The next time some pretty girl invites me to an electoral campaign in the rain.....

...the best thing to do, would be, leave the damn cameras at home !

Politically Incorrect Birds in the Mangroves

Fear Not:  Nobody's Getting Political Here

After sorting the day's wildlife photos it's fun to exercise the imagination.

So, that's what I do sometimes, while waiting for the bars to open.

birds, spoonbill and egret

The egret on the left saw a stranger in the wetland.

Egret close up

That bird on the right isn't from Okinawa.  So, why's he hanging around here ?

egret appears to be talking

Get outta my swamp !

No ospreys are allowed in here !

So, the big bird on the right says, "I'm not an osprey.  I'm a penguin".

egret with mouth closed

Oh.  Excuse me for being so blond.  Penguins are OK.
