EARTHQUAKE in OKINAWA !

Flashback from a Friday in 2010

This morning several Facebook friends reminded me of this February 2010 blog post.

Apparently, a 4.0 or, bit stronger earthquake happened last night and I missed it.

People DON'T PANIC!  Little earthquakes happen all the time. Adapt!

OK back to 2010

We had this earthquake around 5:30 this morning, right here in my hometown.

Well, it actually shook everybody's hometown on the whole 65-mile island.

CNN and Fox and maybe even that Hiraldo Guy like to be the first, along with NBC, ABC, that

Fat Guy who wants to run the Republican Party, and Bill O'Reilly, Conan, David Letterman,

Dr. Phil, Capt. Kangaroo, Al Gore, The Flying Nun and everybody else who wants to be the

first to report the news all gets family and friends of mine upset because just like breaking

 wind,

BREAKING HEADLINE NEWS is usually BULL!

Gee, I hope I didn't leave anybody important out. If I did, sorry, it was intentional.

Here's what really happened in the Not-So-Breaking-News, from a survivor of the tragic

aftermath. The ground shook. The house did, too. Not even 30 seconds, I think.

Everybody survived. If anyone was injured, it must have been an accident. There was one dead

bird in my kitchen. He was still warm when I took him away from the dog eating him. I guess I

should start closing the doors during earthquakes. Keep the damn birds from using my house

like an earthquake shelter and stealing my Rye Bread. Bet that's why the dog killed him.

That's all the breaking news from my part of the world. Everyone's fine and I even answered

half of the 157 emails I got today asking about the earthquake before I got this great idea: Do a

 Blog. Thanks for caring, everyone!

Live on the scene, in the aftermath of the OKINAWA EARTHQUAKE. It's over.

Breaking News: Cherry Blossoms (桜) Blooming !

OkiNinjaKitty Spots Them First

This is big news and we're all glad to hear it because that means we've had our coldest day.

Of course, that's if you believe local legends.

This photo was dragged-up out of my files.  It's from a previous year.

The little bird is Japanese White Eye.

They are fairly jittery birds and won't give your camera a chance to focus, before they move-on.

But, during Cherry Blossom Season, I swear, they get drunk, or something.

It's a whole lot easier to get great shots of them when they are around Cherry Blossoms.

Sometimes, they actually pose for you.

The first photos I've seen (this season) of the Sakura (桜) Blossoms on Mount Yadake are here:

Go on over and congratulate her and Like her, if you have time.

If you happen to be a real Cherry Blossom fanatic, I have some links for you.

N. Korean Tunnels, Zero. Marilyn Monroe, Two: A Photo Essay

pharaoh statue,antiques,

Yesterday's breaking news was the discovery of a tunnel in Motobu Okinawa, Japan.

It seems it was dug with the assistance of some North Koreans back in the 1940's.

What in the world were any Koreans doing digging tunnels on the Ryukyu Islands, ever ?

So, the mission, today, was to grab cameras and find the tunnels.

We scored a big zero on tunnels but, found an interesting Cafe.

The upstairs and downstairs were full of antiques and treasures from around the world.

Pharaoh statues, Old World globes, horns and trinkets were everywhere.

Even a knight in armor was standing in a corner.

Under the stairwell, that poster of Marilyn Monroe caught my eyes but, I wouldn't dare move it.

If the North Koreans were really here, they may have bobby-trapped the place.  Hah !

So, the zoom lens was used to get a little closer.

No luck finding the North Korean tunnel but, we'll go back again later this week.

Two Marilyn Monroe posters made the trip worthwhile.

It's hard to believe the North Koreans were digging tunnels here.

But, if I find any evidence, after I shoot it with a camera, I'll let you know.

Nov 8, 2011 Okinawa Earthquake: Cockadoodledo !

The breaking news, breaking headlines, breaking the record for being the first to report it are at it, again !

Just before noon today Nov 8, 2001 in Japan we had an earthquake rattle a few things on Okinawa.

But, all the breaking-wind people come from somewhere else.  So, they'll be calling this the great Okinawa Earthquake of Nov 7, 2011.

Depending on which experts you listen to, the quake registered 6.8 or 6.9.

People who have their feet on the ground, in Okinawa, Japan aren't all that shook up.  The news agencies just enjoy making the rest of the world run around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Today, I was standing in the isle between the baked beans and the canned tomato sauce when the earthquake hit.  I had a camera hanging off my shoulder.  The quake rattled the cans for a few seconds but, nothing fell.  So, I never tried to catch any photos.

The Earthquake was a couple of hundred kilometers (136 miles) away from Okinawa and a couple of hundred kilometers (130 miles) under the ocean.

So, I'd like to ask CNN, FOX News, US Coast Guard and everybody else running around like chickens yapping cockadoodledo a question.

What would make a bigger ripple (tsunami) in the water, an earthquake over 200 kilometers under the water or someone farting in a waterbed ?

Ya'll should stick to reporting the real news and quit trying to make news up.

EVERYONE IN OKINAWA, JAPAN IS FINE AND UNHARMED BY THE QUAKE !

Warrior Gals in Okinawa (Photos) They Started It !

Last night was the first time I ever saw anything like this in Okinawa, Japan.

These innocent looking gals got all decked out in royalty-looking duds.

The villagers loaded them up on pallets tied to ropes.

And they hauled them along with the ropes from both ends of town.

Where they could meet and holler at each other to start off a tug-o-war.

There's no telling what kinda stuff they were saying.

Everybody was making noise, yelling, whistling, blowing seashells and beating drums so loud you couldn't hear exactly what the warrior gals were hollering.  It was probably something like we used to say as kids.

YOUR MOTHER WEARS COMBAT BOOTS, HAH !

Not only did they have women warriors starting the tug-o-war in Ginoza Okinawa, Japan last night, they even had some gals sumo wrestle against the boys.  That's two firsts in one day, for me.

So, I shot about 6 gigabytes of photos and have been up 'til the wee hours developing.  This little teaser will have to do for now and I'll try to catch up and post some more as soon as the breaking news stops breaking around here.  Standby for more.....
