A Travel Photo of UNESCO World Heritage Site: Sefa Utaki

This photo gives viewers a sense of the size of the rock formations at the UNESCO World Heritage Site called Sefa Utaki.

The travelers are standing on what could be called Okinawa's most sacred ground.

From the position they are at, they can see Kudaka Jima, a small island off the east coast of Okinawa, where locals believe life originated.

This will be my submission to LadyE's TRAVEL PHOTO THURSDAY.

If you enjoy seeing travel photos from around the world, as much as I do, stop by Budget Travelers Sandbox and give all the travel photographers a boost with your Thumbs and Tweets.
That's what I plan on doing next !

LadyE and Muza-chan,
Thank you. I really need to get a wider angle lens to squeeze it all into a picture.

Wow, huge. Seems like it would be such an interesting place to visit. I hope to visit Sefa Utaki someday!

Cherrysberries,
If you're into learning cultures, history or religious practices, you could easily spend a week there.

Cathy and Datewithabook,
Thank you. Hopefully, I'll put together an entire article on this site with lots of photos.

Sabrina,
Yup, good sizd rock you have to pass under to see the sacred site. Normally, I don't want tourists in my photos but, made an exception here to given a sense of scale.

Very cool shot! I've never heard of this before.

Strux,
Yup, we have a total of 9 UNESCO sites on this tiny island. The five castles, lots of people have heard of. It's the other four unknowns I need to get out and pass the word around on, I guess.

This is a great photo Mike. It's on my target list.

In the meantime, I shared it with the Map It! folks on Facebook to give them a taste.

Ryukyu Thomas Cruise.

Anon/RTC,
We gotta fix that name for you so the search engines and all the women who visit here don't get confused.
With a name like Thomas Cruise you probably attract bunches of them.
Only, I don't want a buncha confused women stumbling around here. Or do I ?
