Wildlife Photo: Common Map Butterfly (Cyrestis thyodamas)

Known as the Ishigakecho, in Japan, this is a Common Map Butterfly.

They can be seen almost anywhere you go in Okinawa and lots of other places in Asia.

The wings look like they are a little busted-up but, that's normal for these characters.

Somebody at The Indian Foundation for Butterflies put together a neat

collection of these critters, at various stages in their life cycle.

You might want to take a look at it.

That way you won't accidentally step on one of the caterpillars and squish it or,

worse yet, sit on one of their eggs when you go for a nature walk !
