The Pacific Reef Egret (Egretta sacra) found in Okinawa, Japan may be black or white.
Today I found a link saying, the ones in New Zealand are predominately grey.
They have a shortage of eye Doctors down there is what I'm thinking.

Yeah, I've heard pf shades of grey but, still say this color is black.
