Even on a cloudy day with an 80% chance of rain predicted you can find something on the mountains of Kunigami Okinawa, Japan to take a photo of in the wild.
After spending three days this week in the city of Naha it felt great getting out of town and up into the hills along the northwest coast.
Some crickets, a snake, a spider and this butterfly landing on a pink blossom were my targets today and I figured LadyE would probably like this shot best for her series of worldwide travel photography titled
TRAVEL PHOTO THURSDAY.
In just a minute, I'll be over there checking out all the other travelers' photography.

Beautiful shot! I don't remember ever seeing an all-black butterfly before.
A very relaxing post after the previous one with the 'inconvenient tourist'... Sorry to hear that you had such trouble - then again, I do think it's easy to blame the tourist. There's a-holes everywhere... I've come across enough Japanese in Japan to realise that.
I hope you don't feel a personal responsibility though?... you can't help some people. No matter how much money or education.
Lovely picture :)
Beautiful butterfly and blossom! That's an awesome photo, Mike.
FishHawk, Adeliade,Muza-chan and Cathy,
Thanks to all for your visit and comments.
Not the best lighting conditions but, the butterfly is actually not all black.
It's caller a Red Helen because some of the markings on its wings are red. It has some white spots, as well. Moving a bit faster than my shutter speed would allow but, I didn't want to bump my ISOs.
Love the detail on that shot.
You can just tell us all it's a black butterfly and we would be none the wiser.
VERY pretty picture! Well done.
HikeBikeTravel and Cherrysberries,
Thank you.
Gorgeous shot Mike!
