Wildlife Photo: An Osprey with Fish in Flight

Here's another view of an Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) flying with a freshly caught fish.

This photo was taken a few miles from my home in Kin Cho Kin Okinawa, Japan the morning of November 28th 2010.

The camera used was a Pentax K10D and I had a Pentax 12-250mm lens zoomed to a focal lenght of 250mm.

The Ospreys move pretty fast, at times so, the tripod isn't of much use with that short of a lens.

What I do is fold the legs and use the tripod as a monopod and pan the camera while watching for the bird to get in a position to light-up that golden eye.

One of these days, I'll get a shot for you where both the fish's and bird's eyes are lit-up. Later.....

Visit my website and check the Gallery if you'd like to see more OKINAWA WILDLIFE.

Whoa...I'm glad you mentioned the fish...I wouldn't have spotted it.
Nice.

Jason,
Yeah, that's a small one. One of these days I'll get a larger sized fish for you.
