Wildlife Photo: Osprey of Senaga-Jima Okinawa, Japan

This Osprey was photographed on the Okinawa Island of Senaga-Jima Feb 10, 2012.

The photo was taken using a Pentax K5, a tripod with legs folded (as monopod), shutter release cable and a Pentax 18-250 lens at 250mm.

f/11   1/400   ISO 100  Spotmetered and panning on the bird's eye in flight.

Awesome shot of a bird in flight. A monopod certainly helps to eliminate the effects of camera shake. Shooting a bird that soar vice flit around like it's overdosed on MDMA helps too. I've shot these birds before too and I know that they're usually shot at great distances and they don't normally like to pose for you as if they were in a cage. Great shot!!!

Doc,
Senaga was a blast. Have to get back down that way, again, sometime!

Doc,
Thanks. What's that MDMA stuff?
Might have to try some, myself!

I think Senaga has to be the best place to catch Osprey's on a frequent basis...and in numbers.

Highly recommend this place to Birders

and if you can get a picture of an Osprey and another Bird, like an airplane in the background, that would be cool too.

Anonymous,
Hafta see what I can do about that. We gotta come up with a name for you, too. There must be 100 people I've met online using that very same handle!

Also lovely shot! :)

Allison,
Yeah, I never could figure out why so many folks named their kids Anonymous. It gets confusing ! LOL
